Me ready for action.

Paul Howarth

Professional mantra: the definition of creativity is doing things differently for better results.

Me me me

I started my career a thousand years ago at what was then the best advertising agency on the planet: BMP DDB. It was here that I met many brilliant people and helped create effective and often award-winning work for the likes of Marmite, Volkswagen, Terry's Chocolate Orange, The Guardian and British Gas.

After BMP, I was part of the agency team that launched swiftcover.com (the first 100% online insurance provider in the UK, if you please); ran the Compare The Market business when Baby Oleg became the most redeemed toy in the company's history (and redemptions = customer revenue); and looked after Malibu Rum during their commercial partnership with R&B sensation Ne-Yo (a story to be told over a strong oat flat white).

The second half of my career has seen me strike out on my own as a consultant, strategist and writer. A six-month spell with HSBC turned into three years, during which time I helped colleagues around the world to tell their story better through marketing, with excellent commercial results. These days, I work with companies to improve their marketing and communications. It's surprisingly easy to get right...

I'm married to a musician and we have two lively teenaged sons. You can hear me commentating on Guerilla Cricket, see me at Ipswich Town or Cheltenham racecourse, and listen to me presenting a couple of podcasts: The Amber Moment (business) and The Twilight Turntable (music).

Coffee, anyone?

Mine's an oat flat white.
